Most of South Florida treats late October as the start of the season, timed to the return of downtown markets and holiday tree lightings. The calendar near Boca Bridges runs earlier. Between Tuesday, Oct. 6 and Saturday, Oct. 17, a new French café opens on Glades Road, a free outdoor concert series comes back at Atlantic and Lyons, and Morikami's season moves from a film night to a tea demonstration to a major new exhibition. Downtown Delray's Winter GreenMarket doesn't open until Oct. 24.
Boca Bridges sits on the west side of Lyons Road, about a mile north of Clint Moore Road. Delray Marketplace is on the same road at Atlantic Avenue, at 14851 Lyons Road. Most of what follows takes place within that stretch of Lyons Road or a short drive from it.

Wednesday has two shifts at Atlantic and Lyons
Delray Marketplace now runs Wednesdays twice. In the morning, free Yoga on the Green meets at the amphitheater from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., led by lululemon Ambassador and Certified Yoga Teacher Kim Rose Flows. The series started Aug. 26 and runs through May 26, 2027. Sign-up is free through Eventbrite, and the center asks participants to bring their own mats.
In the evening, the free Delray Marketplace Music Fest returns Oct. 7 and plays every Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. through April 28, 2027. Guests bring their own chairs or blankets to the amphitheater near Burt & Max's. Here is the posted fall lineup:
- Oct. 7: Happy Daze Band, oldies from the '50s and '60s
- Oct. 14: The Prymates, classic rock
- Oct. 21: Doubleback, '80s hits
- Oct. 28: Mischief, party and dance hits
- Nov. 4: Don't Stop the Music, doo-wop, Motown, disco and classic rock
- Nov. 11: Whisky Six Band, which the center bills as South Florida's favorite local country band
- Nov. 18: Retroflyte, hits from the '60s through the '90s
- Nov. 25: Dance Party 3X, disco and R&B
The schedule ends at Nov. 25 for now, and the center says to check back for December acts. Between the morning class and the evening set, the center's directory lists restaurants including Batch Gastropub, Burt & Max's, Dos Amigos Tacos and Ganzo Sushi. It also lists fitness tenants including Orangetheory Fitness, Perspire Sauna Studio, Restore Cryotherapy & Hyper Wellness and Salt Pilates.
The day after the Oct. 28 Music Fest brings a third reason to stop by. Delray Marketplace hosts a free Trick or Treat on Thursday, Oct. 29, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. for children 10 and under in costume, with pumpkins, face painting and crafts hosted by Divine Savior Academy. Parents must stay with their children, and the rain date is Friday, Oct. 30.
Morikami opens its biggest fall show on the third Saturday
Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens builds its October season week by week, and the order is useful for planning.
On Friday, Oct. 9, the season starts with a screening of Rashomon at 6:30 p.m. in the Morikami Theater. It's free, but it requires advance registration and tickets are limited. The next morning, Saturday, Oct. 10, The Joy of Carving starts. It's a two-day workshop where participants carve a shamoji rice paddle, meeting 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 10 and Oct. 17 in the Oki Education Center. The fee is $150, plus a $25 materials fee paid in cash to the instructor. Also on Oct. 10, the Demonstration of Sado: The Way of Tea runs at noon and 1:30 p.m. in the Morikami Theater for $5 plus museum admission. It returns on Nov. 21 and Dec. 19.
The month builds toward Saturday, Oct. 17, when Mending Cracks in Time: Kintsugi Art of Naoko Fukumaru opens to the public. It runs through Feb. 28, 2027, with a member preview on Friday, Oct. 16. Kintsugi is the Japanese practice, dating to the 15th century, of mending broken ceramics with natural urushi lacquer mixed with powdered gold, so the repair is highlighted rather than hidden. Fukumaru has worked as a ceramic conservator at major museums in the United States and Japan. The exhibition gathers more than 160 individual pieces, from master ceramic works and tea ceremony utensils to everyday vessels and a single installation piece.
Because the show runs past February, it can wait if October fills up. Opening weekend, though, is also the second session of the carving workshop, so one Saturday covers both.
General admission, before tax, is $18 for adults, $16 for seniors 65 and over, $16 for military with ID, $14 for students with ID, and $12 for ages 6 to 17. Children five and under and members get in free. Morikami is closed Mondays and on major holidays. It also notes that its lobby bathrooms are under renovation.
Two family days follow later in the season. Autumn Leaves Kirigami runs Saturday, Nov. 14, from noon to 3 p.m. in the Kamiya Room. Nengajō: New Year's Cards runs in the lobby Dec. 12 through 27, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Both are free with paid admission, and neither needs a reservation.
A new café on Glades Road, opening tomorrow
The one new opening for this stretch of the season is south of the community. Maman, the French café and bakery, holds its Boca Raton grand opening Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Shadowood Square, 9959 Glades Road. Boca magazine reported that the first 100 guests get a free chocolate chip cookie and a Maman tote bag. Neighboring shops are also running pop-ups that day: children's store Tecomoabesos from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and jewelry store Hustle + Heart from 1 to 3 p.m. The first 50 guests who spend $15 or more at Maman get a croissant charm. The menu covers fresh-baked pastries, scratch-made breakfast and lunch, and specialty coffee and tea.
The Palm Beach Post reported the same Oct. 6 date. Both reports describe a scheduled opening, so first-week hours are worth confirming before you go. The west Boca café is Maman's next Palm Beach County location after West Palm Beach, and another is set to open in Delray Beach's Sundy Village.
Downtown Delray starts its season after the west side
The Delray Winter GreenMarket opens Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Old School Square campus, then runs every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Old School Square's holiday events come in December: the lighting of Delray Beach's 100-foot tree on Tuesday, Dec. 1, the Chanukah Festival on Sunday, Dec. 6, and Cocoa, Cookies & Crafts on Thursday, Dec. 10.
So the calendar has a clear order. Everything near the gate is underway by the third week of October, while downtown's weekly market starts on the fourth Saturday and its larger holiday gatherings wait until December. In November, Boca Bridges residents can reach both from home: Music Fest Wednesdays at Atlantic and Lyons, and GreenMarket Saturdays east on Atlantic.
Atlantic Avenue's construction runs until summer 2028
The road connecting most of this calendar is under construction. The Florida Department of Transportation's S.R. 806 project rebuilds Atlantic Avenue from just west of S.R. 7 to just east of Florida's Turnpike, including widening and intersection work at Lyons Road. It started Jan. 20, 2025, and is projected to finish in summer 2028.
This week's status is good news for the Music Fest opener. FDOT's Palm Beach County report for Oct. 2 through Oct. 9 says "All lanes are open" on the project. That report is a weekly snapshot, and FDOT points drivers to FL511 for real-time closures.
The southern route has its own work. Palm Beach County's construction list for Oct. 5 through Oct. 11 shows periodic eastbound right-lane closures on Clint Moore Road between S.R. 7 and Lyons Road for FPL underground work. The same list notes utility work and periodic lane restrictions on Glades Road between Sandpiper Shores Elementary and the Diego Drive area, which is worth checking before the drive to Shadowood Square.
The evenings that stay behind the gate
Some nights the best plan is staying in. According to the community's management company, the Boca Bridges Clubhouse covers 27,000 square feet on more than seven acres of recreation space. It includes restaurant and pool seating, a full-service pool bar, an Indoor Sports Court, a Fitness Center and Group Fitness Studio, a resort pool and lap pool, and a massage room. The Racquet Center has six lighted clay tennis courts, one lighted asphalt court and four lighted asphalt pickleball courts. With the late-day heat easing, those lighted courts give Boca Bridges residents a fall evening plan that needs no drive at all.
Every free Wednesday concert and Morikami Saturday on this list leads back to the same stretch of Lyons Road. If you are weighing how a home at Boca Bridges fits your family's long-term plans, Gregory Glenn offers private, unhurried counsel that looks at lifestyle, legal and estate considerations together.
